Access Attends NJLM

Access’ Booth at NJLM

The New Jersey League of Municipalities  annual conference hosted in Atlantic City is the largest municipal conference in the Country. Each year, thousands of New Jersey key decision makers attend to learn about the different products and services that can make an impression in their very own communities. This year, Access Control Group participated in the conference to understand how our solutions can make a difference in the towns and cities across our great state of New Jersey.

Mayor James L. Cassella of East Rutherford explained in his opening statement, “We hold the duty to do what is best for current residents of and visitors to, our hometowns. And we hold the duty to plan, to prepare, and to pass on to those who will follow us, communities that are ready to prosper in the future.”

So, we asked ourselves, how can Access play a significant role in supporting municipalities to serve the people in the best way possible? As any governmental service is funded by taxpayers money, every official is looking for solutions to lower expenses and raise productivity – that is where we come in.

We quickly discovered through our conversations at the conference that many cities do not have the fleet management systems in place that could ultimately eliminate manual processes, lower operational costs and drive ongoing efficiencies. With such a substantial investment in city-owned vehicles, these cities are operating them blindly, unaware of the significant cost savings that could be had with the implementation of a telematics system.

Telematics devices provide benefits for both small cities fleets and largely populated districts with thousands of multi-departmental fleets and assets. Whether the vehicle fleets clean the snow, pick up the city trash or bring safety and protection like fire departments and police forces, having access to real-time data on usage, location tracking, maintenance and employee/vehicle accountability is the key ingredient to optimizing their resources and processes.

Our AssetPro platform makes it easy for any government official to view real-time reports on their fleet’s usage, downtime, and location. Software such as ours allows municipalities to uncover areas that could be improved, so that taxpayer dollars are being used wisely.

For example:

  • Is Garbage Truck A taking the most efficient route possible so that fuel costs and wear and tear to the vehicle can be reduced?
  • Are technicians being deployed for maintenance on vehicles that truly need it so that resources are being utilized wisely?
  • Are there ever any unauthorized uses of fleet vehicles that could increasing the city’s vehicle costs?

With cities and communities all over the country faced with thousands of vehicles to be managed and tracked, we hope our solutions can enable fleet managers to make the the best decisions around the safety, quality and productivity of their fleets.

Overall, the conference was a well-rounded learning experience for Access. We understand that there is a need for our solutions within our state and others around the country. Access aims to help New Jersey become a smart state by utilizing our technology and services as a means to serve the people.
